The new multi-tone roof design is offered for the MINI 3-door, MINI 5-door and MINI Clubman.
The innovative painting process at the MINI Oxford plant enables the new MINI multi-tone ceiling design.
MINI has a long tradition of color diversity. A contrasting paint finish for the roof once helped the classic Mini to achieve an especially expressive look. With the unique Multi-Tone roof, the customization of the MINI exterior that can be achieved through paint, now reaches a whole new dimension. For the first time, an innovative painting process is used by overlapping paint on wet paint ”.
MINI Electric, pioneer with the new multi-tone ceiling design
The pioneer of this new form of roof design is the MINI Cooper SE (combined consumption: 17.6 - 15.2 kWh / 100 km according to WLTP). The Multi-tone ceiling was first offered as part of the MINI Electric Collection. Meanwhile, the Multi-tone roof is available as an option for the MINI 3-door, MINI 5-door and MINI Clubman.
The highlight of the new design is the fluid succession between the three color tones. From dark San Marino Blue at the front of the vehicle's roof, the color scheme smoothly transitions to the lighter shade of Pearly Aqua, and then to Jet Black at the rear. The unique aesthetic created by these colors that is also easily recognizable in combination with the panoramic glass roof (optional), as well as the optional roof rails. The multi-tone roof color scheme is as attractive as it is harmonious with nearly all available body finishes for the MINI 3-door, MINI 5-door and MINI Clubman. It is therefore available in combination with all exterior colors, with the exception of the Chili Red and British Racing Green metallic variants, as well as the Indian Summer Red metallic available for the MINI Clubman.
With the contrasting roof paint, the characteristic three-part bodywork of the MINI is accentuated with particular intensity. The horizontal structure of the body, the glass cabin and the roof is a typical design of the brand. The ceiling design becomes an expression of personal style. Depending on the model variant, factory white, black and silver paint finishes are offered as options. A red painted roof is also available for John Cooper Works models. In addition, the MINI Genuine Accessories range includes ceiling decorations in various designs; from the "Union Jack" to the design of the checkered flag, for later assembly.
Each MINI with Multitone roof is unique
Including the Multitone ceiling is made possible by the introduction of a new type of painting technique at the British MINI plant in Oxford. There, the light color Pearly Aqua is first applied to the roof of the correspondingly configured vehicles. In later steps, San Marino Blue is applied to the front of the roof and Jet Black to the rear, creating the flowing color gradients characteristic of the multi-tone roof. The innovative painting process is fully integrated and automated in the production process of the MINI plant in Oxford. However, there are slight deviations in the color pattern due to changing environmental conditions, so every MINI with a Multi-Tone roof is unique thanks to the painting process at the factory.
